Effectiveness

As a business owner you will be constantly striving to maximise the earning capacity of your enterprise, therefore the productive use of time is of vital importance to you. A simple – yet effective method of getting to grips with your time management is to undertake a review of daily activities. It’s amazing what comes to light when you simply reflect (alone or with your team) on what you spend your days doing, just working with a basic time and motion analysis for a week can be astonishing…

You might find that you are doing a great deal of work in a really efficient way, but is this work actually contributing towards driving the sales and profit margins of your business? There is a real distinction between doing things right, and doing the right things.

For Martial Arts Schools, getting and keeping students is the key business driver, so logically if you are tied up with tasks that don’t contribute to either of these areas you are unlikely to be working towards developing your business.

There are times when we all practise ‘creative avoidance’ choosing the work that is within our comfort zone rather than confronting the tasks that really need our attention. Right now one of those tasks is goal setting and budget planning for the New Year!

A clear focus on the tasks that add value to the business (the right things) should be a goal for us all on a daily basis.

“Time = life; therefore, waste your time and waste your life, or master your time and master your life.”
