2015

“Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow, don’t stop it will soon be here…”

As you know we always recommend that you start your plans for the forthcoming year in October. The crucial first step to achieving the success that you want will be establishing your goals. We have mentioned many times the importance of getting your sales budget in place as the first step in preparing your business goals.

The single largest figure in your sales budget will be that of tuition fees received from students, and while you should pay most attention to this, there are other significant areas of sales that you should also consider. Some of these sales generation areas will be more important at different times of the year, for example: grading every two to three months, events such as summer camps and also pre-Christmas pro shop sales.

The following is a list of potential sales areas that you should build into your budget plan:

  • Membership fees
  • Tuition
  • Upgrades
  • Grading
  • Special events (seminars, birthday parties, summer camps, training with friend and family etc)
  • After school and pre-school clubs
  • Pro shop sales (all year round with links to seminars and events; and special offers and packages for Christmas gifts)

There are opportunities for sales from all these areas – they all need planning and careful implementation, but remember that the main contribution to your sales figures for the first quarter of the year will be areas 1 to 4. Your first major focus – starting with planning right away – should be on the New Year demand that will hit in January.

As Fleetwood Mac said in their song; “Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow, don’t stop it will soon be here”!
