Companies with an ethical framework are more likely to be successful, according to an industry expert. The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has said that companies that have a basis of ethical standards tend to make more money than those that don't. A recent survey by CIMA found that 73 per cent of respondents think their ethical performance will become a formal part of their role over the next few years. Danielle Cohen, ethics manager at CIMA, said those with an ethical framework tend to flourish more financially. She added: "Having good ethical standards which are embedded in the company and which you measure your performance against are just a part of good management." A debate entitled Is Global Ethics a Myth?, hosted by CIMA and attended by Dragon's Den star James Caan and Channel 4 news presenter Jon Snow, yesterday discussed whether it was possible for companies to be both ethical and profitable. ![]() |
