Website 'promoting flexible working to small businesses' PDF Print
ImageA new website has been launched to help small businesses boost their profits.

The site, www.flexible-working.org, is operating initially in Cornwall and is aimed at small business owners in the area, to help provide guidance and practical advice to help companies beat the current credit crunch.

Personnel Today reports the site also aims to promote flexible working among staff, with figures estimating that such working practises can boost employee productivity by up to 15 per cent.

Harry Hart, operations director at fire protection business Fire Crest in Cornwall, which introduced home working, told the site the future was "definitely flexible".

"The changes we've made have enabled us to increase productivity and profits, improve the work-life balance of our staff, and most importantly, increase customer satisfaction," he added.

The British Chambers of Commerce recently said that a well-managed business will manage to succeed in the current economic climate.

It added a recession will test people's management skills and those that cope well will be a success.
