Southall children 'encouraged to think about health' PDF Print
ImageChildren from a West London borough have been participating in a new health and fitness scheme.

Organised by the Fitness Industry Association, the Active at School programme aims to get youngsters thinking about health and encourage them to undertake exercise, reports the Ealing Times.

In news which may interest fitness centre owners in the area, some 20 youngsters from Beaconsfield Primary School in Southall have been taking part on the course and trying out a variety of sporting activities.

The programme is funded by Sport England and is open to children aged between 10-15.

Andrew Rogers, manager of Southall Sports Centre, told the newspaper the Active at School programme has been "extremely successful" to date.

"It has allowed our local primary school children to access quality facilities and sports coaching on a regular basis," he added.

Olympic rowing gold medallist Steve Williams was recently confirmed to be the guest of honour at Living Well West Midlands' annual conference, which is taking place on November 17th, the Birmingham Mail reported.
