Council aiming to combat health issues in Wrexham PDF Print
ImageWrexham council is handing out funding to groups across the borough in order to combat the growing number of unhealthy people in the local area.

During August, a poll by Dr Foster Research identified Wrexham as the "eight fattest town" in Britain.

The Evening Leader reports that a new Health Challenge Wrexham Week has been established in order to promote health and fitness to people living in the local community.

A total of £10,000 is being handed out to organisations and projects in order to combat obesity among the town's residents.

Joan Lowe, lead member for social care and health, told the newspaper there are now "more opportunities" to reinforce lifestyle changes.

"We are working hard with our partners to raise awareness of the issues surrounding health and well-being," she added.

Tees Valley based building firm Rok recently announced it was promoting health issues to its employees via a partnership with a local health club, reported the Evening Gazette.
