Building firm 'promoting health issues to employees' PDF Print
ImageA building firm has approached a team of fitness experts in order to promote health issues to its employees.

Rok, based in Tees Valley, has a predominantly male workforce and approached Bannatyne's Health Club in Ingleby Barwick to focus on fitness and wellbeing issues.

The Evening Gazette reports that fitness checks have been offered to employees based both in the company's offices and on sites around the region.

Blood pressure, cholesterol and heart rates were monitored and other checks on lung capacity and physical flexibility have also been administered.

Steve Allen, Rok's area leader in the Tees Valley, said employees' health is "our priority".

"With men making up the majority of our workforce it is important for us to raise awareness of what our employees can do want a healthier lifestyle," he added.

The Lancashire Telegraph recently appointed a new healthy lifestyle co-ordinator, funded by NHS East Lancashire.

Zoe Pickard's role will involve setting up and maintaining health and fitness regimes across the region.
