Council offering free access all areas fitness scheme PDF Print
ImageA district council is opening up the doors of all its leisure centres for free in order to encourage local people to learn about the benefits of exercise.

This weekend residents of Northallerton, Thirsk, Stokesley and Bedale in the Hambleton district will have free access to the four leisure centres located locally.

According to the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette, the "access all areas" weekend will promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and also offer free fitness classes and health checks.

The initiative is being supported by the Fitness Industry Association (FIA).

Graeme Hinde, FIA representative, told the newspaper: "We commend the Hambleton District Council for their commitment to improving health and increasing participation within their local community and all that the Open Weekend embodies."

Screening firm Datanomic recently said that it had become "far easier" for leisure centres to screen employees due to improvements in the technology behind the process.
