Small business 'relying on the internet' PDF Print
ImageSmall businesses are relying on the internet to help the cut costs during the credit crunch, it has been claimed.

Research from business insurer Premierline Direct highlighted that online spending among smaller firms has increased by 40 per cent, with over half of the companies questioned claiming use of the web gives them more control, reports startups.co.uk.

Some 70 per cent of respondents said the internet has aided them in speeding up their productivity, by cutting travel costs and the amount of time spent out of the workplace.

Commenting on the findings, Chris Little, the organisation's managing director, told the news provider: "The growth of the internet has really made products and services more accessible to business owners and is an ideal tool for companies looking to make time and cost savings by shopping around for the best deals."

In related news, programme manager for NetRegs.gov.uk Richard Martin and Alexander Ehman, head of parliamentary and regulatory affairs at the Institute of Directors, have asserted that firms could make some "serious" savings if they embrace some green measures such as switching off computer monitors.
