CRB 'could help check migrant workers' PDF Print
ImageThere is no body established to perform background checks on workers from abroad, according to a leading employment lawyer.

Stephen Levinson, from RadcliffesLeBrasseur, has said that people looking to check on migrant employees "could face difficulties".

In news which may be of interest to people considering hiring instructors, he added that the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) could help "to a degree" and Interpol may have a system but it is not available to members of the public.

"I don't think the CRB has access to overseas criminal records, although it can tell you how to go and get that information from some countries and, while they don't do it, they can help you find somebody who does," said Mr Levinson.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development recently said that an investment in "relevant knowledge and skill" for staff is "essential".
