Employers can benefit from rewarding their workers with incentives, according to an industry expert.Dilys Robinson, a principal research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies, has said that rewards can provide extra motivation for employees. She added that the type of reward should depend on the type of organisation and employers need to address the issue of "getting it right". Financial rewards can be seen as either "really great" or "slightly distasteful" depending on the employee, Ms Robinson explains, however non-financial rewards with a "little personal touch" can also work "very well". "It all comes down to understanding your workforce what will motivate different groups of people in the workforce and it won't be the same thing for everybody and that's what makes it so complicated," she concludes. A recent YouGov report for the Trades Union Congress found that 24 per cent of the UK workforce was not satisfied with their job. ![]() |
