Public need 'positive messages on healthy living' PDF Print
ImagePositive messages about the benefits of healthy living need to be distributed to the public, according to a Conservative MP.

Andrew Lansley, the shadow secretary of state for health, has said that the message about "tackling obesity" and its "negative consequences" should be replaced with motivation for people to make positive choices.

Speaking about his proposals for a "responsibility deal", he said that business organisations should work with both NHS Plus and the Fitness Industry Association in a local structure to help combat health levels of both its employees and their families.

"As part of the national framework, too, we need to ensure that the corporate responsibility of business, and the ability of businesses to contribute to the promotion of healthier living, is fully and successfully engaged," added Mr Lansley.

Workers in the construction industry could soon have to carry health cards which restrict what work they can undertake, in a scheme developed by the Constructing Better Health organisation, contractjournal.com reported.
