Construction workers 'could be limited by fitness check' PDF Print
ImageThe construction industry has launched a new card which is set to carry health information about workers.

Developed by the Constructing Better Health (CBH) organisation, its makers are encouraging employers to sign up for the initiative.

Contractjournal.com reports that the "fitness for task" occupational health card will carry medical information on the holder, which could result in them being cleared to undertake certain types of work.

In a move which may see more people from the industry joining fitness centres or beginning to undertake increased physical exercise, employers are being urged to examine the health levels of its workforce.

CBH chief executive, Michelle Aldous, told the website that there was a "wealth of information" available about workers safety.

"But, where work-related health is concerned, it is perhaps not so easy to find".

The Fitness Industry Association recently joined forces with a group of leading companies and the government to encourage exercise ahead of the 2012 Olympics, Utalkmarketing.co.uk reported.
