Businesses 'overlooking importance of website' PDF Print
ImageA growing number of businesses overlook the significance of their websites, according to an online expert.

Guy Bunker, chief scientist at internet security firm Symantec, said that some businesses can forget about "how important" their websites are and need to formulate successful disaster recovery plans.

He suggests ensuring that a business has a second back-up site available to prepare for any potential problems with its main site.

Mr Bunker also recommends that the website is carefully monitored to identify any technical issues which may arise.

"If there is a problem, then it automatically moves the application to the second site and business continues as normal," he explained.

It was recently revealed that supermarket giant Sainsbury's had to suspend its online grocery service after technical problems where found on its website.

The suspension of the site is rumoured to have cost the supermarket over £1 million in lost sales.
