CRB checks 'are a painless process' PDF Print
ImageGetting background Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks for instructors could be "a painless process", according to an expert.

The Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) has said that people should not be daunted about CRB checks, and described them as "just par for the course".

People who will be working closely with children are required by law to go through the process of a CRB check.

A spokesperson for the TDA said that there should be not worries if a person has "nothing to hide".

"It's basically a painless process: you fill in a form and that's it. It's just a requirement that everyone has to go through," they added.

According to the Home Office, the CRB process prevented more than 20,000 unsuitable people from working with children in 2007.

It also claims that 92 per cent of people were satisfied with the process, with 38 per cent of these "very satisfied".
