PayPal blocking older web browsers PDF Print
ImagePayPal has announced it will block older web browsers from accessing the website due to concerns about online fraud.

Their new policy of blocking any browser that does not support validation and other security measures means that large numbers of users may not be able to use the service.

Michael Oldenburg, PayPal corporate communications spokesman, told 9to5 Mac: "PayPal is developing features to block customers from logging into PayPal when using obsolete browsers on outdated or unsupported operating systems.

"In doing so, we better protect our customers from viewing a phishing site through their browser. We have absolutely no intention of blocking current versions of any browsers."

Phishing sites are designed to look like legitimate websites of major brands and are intended to get financial and personal information from users who are lured there primarily by unsolicited emails.

Meanwhile, HSBC Bank is to begin using new software to virtually demonstrate that its website is genuine and help its customers becoming victims of phishing scams.
