New IT service for the smaller business PDF Print
ImageA large provider of IT services has launched a new web-based initiative aimed specifically at small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Computacenter Express has targeted firms which spend less than £30,000 on IT a year by creating a simple and cost-effective procurement experience for SMEs.

The services provider also claims to remove the complexity of purchasing IT systems by offering its Computacenter Recommends portfolio, which chooses the best products in terms of its lifetime business value.

James Pelham-Burn, director of e-business at Computacenter, said: "Many small businesses don't have dedicated IT or procurement staff but still want the best and most reasonably priced IT equipment to meet their business needs."

He explained that the new service will allow managers to make informed purchasing decisions without needing a high level of IT expertise or hours of painstaking research.

According to CRN, Computacenter's rivals have been quick to point out that the site for the new service lists no phone number and only currently offers credit to companies with a turnover of over £5 million.
