Direct mail favoured marketing method PDF Print
ImageDirect marketing (DM) is the favoured advertising method for a majority of firms, according to new research.

Sending email and post to potential customers was rated as the most effective method of drumming up new business in a study by the Fournaise Marketing Group.

Direct marketing is said to be the best method for business-to-consumer and business-to-business marketers, ranking ahead of online platforms.

Cinema adverts and online sponsorship were rated as the less effective, with Fournaise suggesting these marketing forms could be dropped by some companies.

"If you listen to the industry hype, it's all about online advertising (and emerging mobile advertising)," said Jerome Fontaine, chief executive at Fournaise.

"If you check where marketing budgets are mostly spent, it's still all about traditional media such as TV and newspapers. But when it comes down to effectiveness, while it may not be the most glamorous and talked-about medium, marketers are telling us DM is still the best platform for delivering results."
